How do I get to the hotel?
La Isla Inn is located at Playa Cocles, about 1,5 km (1 mile) south of Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. There are several ways to get here. You can:

- travel by public bus
- book a shuttle transfer
- hire a private transfer or
- rent a car and drive

Travel time to Puerto Viejo from the capital San Jose is approximately 4 driving hours.

Are you on the ocean front? Do you have rooms with sea view?
Yes, our hotel is situated at Playa Cocles, well known for its beach break during December and March. During these months the Caribbean Sea gets rough – perfect for surfing. The rest of the year it is calm with wonderful crystal and blue waters,…just as you might imagine the Caribbean to be. The hotel is separated from the beautiful beach only by a little coastal road. Some of our rooms have direct sea view.

Is there a restaurant at the hotel?
Yes, La Isla Inn provides a restaurant where your included breakfast is served. During high season the restaurant is open from 7 am until 10 pm. You can have lunch and dinner, or just a snack in between.

Do you have rooms with air conditioning?
Our hotel offers both, rooms with fan as well as with A/C. See Rooms & Rates for further details about our types of accommodation.

Do you have special rates for low season?
Yes, see Rooms & Rates for our prices or feel free to contact us for special requests.

Do you offer breakfast?
Our rates include breakfast. It is served in our own restaurant.

Is there laundry service?
Yes, leave your clothes with us in the morning and you will have them back in the late afternoon.

Do you provide Internet access?
Yes, we have Wireless access in the hotel, but no computer terminal. If you don’t want to bring your own laptop you have several opportunities in the village of Puerto Viejo, which is about 1 mile away.

What about safety at the hotel?
Each room provides a safe deposit box for your valuables and documents. In addition to that, we have a private security man at night.

How can I pay?
La Isla Inn will happily receive your payments by credit card or cash (US dollars or colones). We accept the major credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Diners).

Can I exchange money?
We don’t exchange money at our hotel. But you will find a bank in Puerto Viejo, about 1 mile away from our hotel. There you can change money or use the ATM.

What is the weather like at Playa Cocles?
Here in the Caribbean there is no special dry and rainy season like in the rest of the country. As we are located in an area of rain forests, the tropical influenced weather at the Caribbean Coast brings rain and humidity the whole year, with drier periods in September/October and February through April. However, that doesn’t mean that the rest of the year it rains the whole day. It can be dry and sunny during the wet months and vice versa.

Each season has its benefits and typical weather patterns, but nothing in Mother Nature is for sure.

Between December and March there is the high season for surf tourism. In these months the region around Puerto Viejo has several well regarded surf spots.

Is it safe to swim in the sea?
The region provides wonderful beaches and spots to enjoy the crystalline water of the Caribbean Sea. Depending on climate and season there can occur riptides and currents. We support a local lifeguard program, whose lifeguards are located just in front of our hotel at Playa Cocles and care for your safety.

Where is the closest gas station?
The closest gas station is in Penshurt about 35 km away from our hotel, on the street between Cahuita and Limon.
